Gel-X vs Acrylic: Which Is Better?
Both give you length and strength your natural nails don't have on their own. The right choice comes down to how they feel, how they wear over time, and what you're willing to spend.
Weight & Feel
Gel-X tips are noticeably lighter than acrylic, which is part of why so many guests switch and don't go back. Acrylic is sturdier but has more weight, especially at longer lengths.
Durability
Acrylic edges out Gel-X for pure durability at very long lengths or for guests who are especially hard on their hands. For most everyday lengths, both hold up well between fills.
Odor & Application
Gel-X has noticeably less odor during application since it's cured under a lamp rather than mixed from powder and liquid. If strong smells bother you, Gel-X is the more comfortable appointment.
Cost

Our Take
If budget and maximum durability matter most, go acrylic. If you want a lighter, lower-odor set and don't mind a slightly higher price, Gel-X is usually the favorite. Either way, your technician can walk you through both in person before you commit.
