Nail Shapes, Explained
There's no single "best" shape — it comes down to your nail bed, how you use your hands day to day, and how much upkeep you want to commit to. Here's a quick rundown.
Round
Follows the natural curve of your fingertip. Low-maintenance and the least likely to snag or chip at the edges.
Square
Straight across with sharp corners. Reads clean and modern, and holds up well on shorter lengths.
Almond
Tapered sides with a rounded tip. A middle ground that tends to elongate the fingers without being too dramatic.
Coffin (Ballerina)
Tapered sides with a flat, squared-off tip. Needs some length to really show the shape, and a bit more upkeep at the edges.
Stiletto
Long and sharply pointed. The most dramatic option — striking, but the most prone to breaking with everyday use.
Not sure what would suit you? Your tech can usually recommend a shape once they see your nail beds and hear how you use your hands day to day.
