What Are Chrome Nails?
Chrome nails get their mirror-like finish from a fine powder buffed over a cured gel base — not from polish, which is why the effect looks so different from a standard metallic polish.
How the Mirror Finish Is Applied
After a gel or Gel-X base is cured, a chrome powder is buffed directly onto the nail, creating the reflective finish, then sealed with a top coat. The effect is much stronger and more even than a metallic polish alone.
Base Colors That Change the Effect
Chrome powder is technically translucent — the color underneath shows through. A silver chrome over a nude base gives a soft, liquid-metal look; the same silver over black reads much darker and more dramatic.
Maintenance Between Fills
Chrome holds up well for a normal Gel-X or Builder Gel fill cycle, since it's sealed under a top coat. Avoid picking at the edges, and keep cuticle oil in rotation to prevent lifting at the base.
