Why Is My Gel Polish Peeling?
Gel polish is built to last weeks, not days — so when it starts peeling early, it's usually traceable to one of a few causes.
Rushed or Incomplete Prep
Gel needs a clean, dry, oil-free nail surface to bond. If the nail plate isn't fully prepped, the gel has nothing solid to grip, and peeling starts at the edges first.
Undercuring
Gel needs the full cure time under the lamp to fully harden. A rushed layer stays slightly soft underneath, which shows up later as peeling.
Oil and Moisture Contact Too Soon
Applying cuticle oil or lotion before the gel has settled can interfere with how well the layers bond — wait a few hours after your appointment for your first oil application.
Picking at the Edges
This is the most common cause by far. Once a small edge lifts, picking peels back further. If you notice a lifted edge, come in for a quick fix instead.
