BIAB vs Gel Polish: What Is the Difference?
These two get confused a lot because both are cured under a lamp, but they solve different problems.
What Gel Polish Does
Gel polish is a color layer over your natural nail — it adds shine and chip resistance, but no real structural strength. It's the gel version of regular polish, not a builder product.
What BIAB (Builder Gel) Does
Builder Gel is a thicker gel applied to add strength and slight structure over the natural nail. It's often used to help weak or breaking nails grow out protected, not just for color.
Who Benefits From Each
If your nails are already strong and you just want color that lasts, gel polish is enough. If your nails break easily or you want a bit of length and structure without going acrylic, Builder Gel is the better fit.
How Fills Keep It Going
Both need a fill every 2–3 weeks as the nail grows out. A Builder Gel fill re-covers new growth with fresh product to keep the structural layer intact.
